Our reusable stainless steel products are made from high grade, rust resistant stainless steel and are designed to last when properly cared for.

If you notice marks or corrosion that appear to be rust, this may sometimes be caused by contaminants or residue on the surface rather than the stainless steel itself.

There are a few things that can contribute to this:

Improper cleaning or drying

If dirt, residue or moisture is left on the surface, it can contribute to corrosion over time. Iron particles, which can be found in water, may also react with oxygen and create marks that appear to be rust. This can be more likely when your product is kept in a humid or damp environment for extended periods.

We recommend thoroughly cleaning, rinsing and drying your reusable after each use. Pay particular attention to areas such as the base and straw, and make sure these are completely dry before storing your product in a cool, dry place.

Using steel wool or wire brushes

We don't recommend using steel wool or wire brushes to clean stainless steel. These materials can leave small particles behind or damage the surface, which may then contribute to rust appearing when exposed to moisture or humid air.

How can I remove rust or corrosion marks?

If you're noticing build up or marks on your reusable, particularly in hard to reach areas, a deeper clean may help.

You can use a non abrasive household cleaner with a sponge or clean cloth. A stainless steel cleaner or polish can also be used.

For more stubborn build up, try soaking your product in warm water with white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, then gently scrub the affected area using a soft brush or mildly abrasive sponge. You may need to repeat the process to achieve the desired result.

Once you've finished cleaning, make sure you thoroughly rinse and wash your reusable before using it again, following our recommended care and use instructions.
